At FireKeepers we give you all the tools you will need to be successful. We have many training programs you can take to better yourself. The Track programs a designed to make you better at your chosen career and will make you more eligible for advancement. Below you can see a brief description of some of the trainings we offer at FireKeepers.
At FireKeepers Casino Hotel there are a total of 11 departments. Understanding how all these various departments function and how they support one another is important to grasp the business functions of the property. To help develop this understanding, career development opportunities that require varying levels of training and education are provided. It begins with the Track I program which gives Team Members the opportunity to learn from our Vice Presidents and President & CEO and interact with them one-on-one.
To give a broad overview of all the departments and operations for both front and back of the house, how they function and an awareness of career development opportunities for Team Members.
Track I is 12 weeks in length and is a voluntary unpaid training one hour a week. A certificate is given for completion and it is noted in the Team Member’s personnel file. It is now a preferred qualification for advancement. This training is open to everyone.
Track II is a training and development course for up and coming supervisors and managers. It prepares Team Members by giving them specific skills such as: Introduction to Management, Management Styles, Conflict Management, Motivation and Teamwork and Performance Management.
Track II is a paid training with required reading, homework, testing and a final project. There is an expectation of high engagement, participation, and attendance. On the Job Training allows Team Members to gain in-depth experience in an area of interest and includes: exposure to management level decision making, strategic planning, personnel management, departmental management and to also have an extended interview with a department. Approved projects are a possibility if the Team Member is staying within their current department.
96 hours of classroom time and 32 hours of on the job training, six month time frame.
Track III is a continuous learning program designed for FireKeepers Casino Hotel leaders from Supervisors to upper level management. It will allow our leaders to self-select electives from a catalog of courses offered over the calendar year.
Track III Incorporates coaching and leadership skills to benefit employee morale. Develop communication skills; develop a sense of purpose and teamwork development. Motivate yourself and motivate other people. Enhanced awareness and ease with navigating employee ‘politics’.

The classes can take any form or time frame that is conducive to communicating and instructing the material to be trained. Track III sessions are 60-90 minutes in length, with the size of the class dictated by training space and content. There is required pre-class and post-class assignments and testing.
Team Members must be at or above supervisory level or have graduated from Track II. Management approval maybe required.
Track IV is leadership development for identified Team Members who are nominated by Executive Leadership and vetted by the Career Development Committee. Track IV allows Team Members to hone and develop key leadership skills, build strengths and address weak areas.
Components include personality assessments, coaching, Dale Carnegie Training, Toastmasters Competent Communicator, and mentoring.
Formal referral form. Completion of Track I, II and III preferred.
This program runs in two year cycles and a group stays together until they have completed all training consecutively.
The summer internship program contains a comprehensive overview of the gaming/hospitality industry. The intern will receive On the Job Training in every department. At the end of the program the intern will be expected to make a presentation on what they have learned and experienced over the ten week program.
Ten weeks paid totaling 400 hours. The intern will spend several weeks in each department. Spending the time shadowing the mangers and Vice Presidents in each department. While learning how each department plays a key role in the success of the casino and hotel.
One to two years of college or trade school completed.
Partial reimbursement for work-related courses and degree programs.
