March 2024 — The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP), owners of FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek, announced their contributions to the State of Michigan and the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board (FLRSB).
The payment to the State of Michigan totaled more than $20.5 million, marking a notable increase of 1.16% over the previous year. Additionally, the payment to the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board (FLRSB) exceeded $6.2 million, producing a 0.95% increase from the previous year. These contributions bring NHBP’s total monies contributed to the State of Michigan to over $235.3 million and $78.5 million to the FLRSB since the opening of FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Aug. 2009, culminating in a combined contribution exceeding $313.9 million.
FireKeepers has hosted the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship, an Epson Tour Road to the LPGA event, each summer since 2015. The tournament is held at Battle Creek Country Club, located at 318 Country Club Dr., Battle Creek, Mich. Battle Creek Country Club, a private members-only course, designed by Willie Park, Jr., opened in 1919. The course features 6,744 yards of golf.
FireKeepers Casino Hotel donates all proceeds earned from the event to local charities, including the Haven of Rest and the South Michigan Food Bank.
Every year FireKeepers Casino Hotel participates in an array of local initiatives to benefit a variety of organizations within the community. These include blood, food, toy and coat drives, etc. FireKeepers has participated in multiple food drives every year since opening. Collecting thousands of pounds of food and items for a variety of organizations.
Annually, FireKeepers Casino Hotel provides over 2,500 turkeys to local food banks prior to the start of the holiday season. Since opening, FireKeepers Casino Hotel has made it a point to contribute to local area food banks, and many community organizations not only during the holiday season, but throughout the year.
Since its opening in 2012, the Hotel has donated thousands of hotel rooms to a variety of different organizations and local businesses in need. FireKeepers has also given hundreds of thousands in monetary donations and gifts-in-kind to local organizations. These organizations include lions clubs, community foundations, PTAs, and animal rescues.
