FIREKEEPERS CASINO HOTEL REAFFIRMS POSITION AS ONE OF THE NATION’S LEADING POKER ROOMS AS MAY MSPT TOURNEY POOL EXCEEDS $1.5 MILLION!

Michigan resident takes home $289,407 top prize

(Battle Creek, MI.) May 28, 2019 – The largest MSPT poker tour Main Event outside of Las Vegas continues to take place at FireKeepers Casino Hotel.  FireKeepers established a guaranteed $1 million prize pool for its semi-annual Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) tournament and the final numbers blew away the guarantee.  Chris Moon, of Ferndale, Michigan, took home the trophy and $258,407 top prize at the record-breaking event, highlighted by a prize pool of more than $1.5 million and 1,592 entrants.

Bringing big money players together is standard in the FireKeepers Poker Room, as this is the fifth consecutive MSPT event where FireKeepers generated a prize pool above $1 million!

Moon had an amazing week, topping a field of 570 to take down an HPT tourney in East Chicago, Illinois for $183,899 then moved to Battle Creek days later to take down his second mid-major title of the week by shipping MSPT FireKeepers for $258,407!

"Best week of my life!" Moon said about his two victories. Moon, who's "...been playing since I was trying not to get a job in high school." had an interactive and vocal rail cheering him on throughout the final table.

Augusta, Michigan's Jeffrey Hill was the last to fall before Moon's victory was complete. In the final hand of the tournament, Moon limped in from the button, and Hill raised to 1.2 million in the big blind. Moon called.

Moon took 9C 8D to victory in the final hand, earning a straight while Hill drew dead for a potential lower unsuited straight.

With this kind of action, it is never too early to think about FireKeepers next big MSPT $1 Million guaranteed event, the Michigan State Poker Championship, set for October 10-13, 2019.  Head to FireKeeperscasino.com for upcoming details, plus check out our other tournaments, including the Fifth Sunday 500 on June 30 and the Black Chip Bounty on August 11.
