NHBP and FireKeepers to host golf outing to benefit local veterans

(Battle Creek, MI.) April 11, 2016 –The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, along with FireKeepers Casino Hotel, are hosting the NHBP Veteran Golf Outing on Friday, June 3, at Binder Park Golf Course in Battle Creek, MI.

This is the first year for the annual outing where the funds raised from the golf event will be used to support the NHBP Veterans Fund, which was established to assist foundations and local organizations in providing immediate assistance and relief for veterans who have given so much to our country.

Proceeds from similar events were earmarked for a tribal scholarship fund.  That project reached its financial goal and now the tribe is looking to assist veteran’s initiatives.

This year’s event is a four-person team scramble and will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. Participants will enjoy great food prepared by the chefs from FireKeepers Casino Hotel as well as many prizes and giveaways. Registration for each four-person team is $400. Early registration is recommended. Space is limited and spots will fill quickly.

“The focus now is to reach local companies and/or individuals to participate as sponsors,” said Tony Day, Veterans Committee Chairman and Tribal Council Sergeant-at Arms for The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi.  “The proceeds will benefit local initiatives so we look for companies who share our dedication to providing assistance to veterans to be sponsors of this event.”
