FireKeepers to host Michael McDonald

December 11, 2015 – A chart-topping performer as a solo artist and as an early member of the iconic group The Doobie Brothers, singer Michael McDonald will perform an amazing array of hits on Saturday, February 13 at 8 p.m. when he performs in the Event Center at FireKeepers Casino Hotel. A 2016 nominee to the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Michael McDonald is a five time Grammy Award winning artist, with a distinctive, soulful sound that can’t be missed. After moving to Los Angeles in the early 1970s, McDonald soon received an invitation to join Steely Dan. McDonald became an integral part of the groups’ sound and helped to release four studio albums with classics like, “Black Friday”, and “Peg”.

McDonald then moved on to join The Doobie Brothers in the mid-1970s and helped the band to refine their funky sound. He became one of their singers, keyboardists and songwriters. With The Doobie Brothers he helped to release Top 40 singles such as, “Takin’ It to the Streets”, “It Keeps You Runnin’”, “Minute By Minute”, and “What A Fool Believes”.

After The Doobie Brothers, McDonald had an extremely successful solo career, with many Grammy nominations and wins. He lent his voice to a variety of records by various artists, including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, Joni Mitchell, and Vince Gill. His solo hits include, “I Keep Forgettin’”, “On My Own”, “Yah Mo B There”, and many more.
