(Battle Creek, Mich.) May 17, 2017 – The future stars of women’s golf will battle it out for a $100,000 purse as the 4th Annual FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship will be held Friday, July 28 through Sunday, July 30, at Battle Creek Country Club.  FireKeepers Casino Hotel owned and operated by the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) presents the event in partnership with the 2017 Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA. The event will feature an array of professional women golfers from around the world competing for the top prize of $15,000 plus valuable points to capture the Potawatomi Cup and a bonus prize pool of $40,000.

The Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA is the most established development tour in the world. Every year, the top 10 Symetra Tour players earn automatic membership to play on the LPGA Tour. The mission of the tour is to develop the skills and dreams of women professional golfers. Last year’s first and second place finishers, Laura Gonzales-Escallon and Ally McDonald earned spots in the Evian Championship for their finishes at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship. Both also received 2017 LPGA Tour Cards.

This year, FireKeepers Casino Hotel will donate all proceeds earned from the event to The Haven of Rest in Battle Creek. The Haven serves homeless men, male substance abusers, homeless women and their children, adult men with disabilities who need assisted living, and inmates of the Calhoun County Jail. They provide emergency shelter, meals, daily basic personal care needs, counseling, substance abuse recovery assistance, case management, support groups, transitional housing, and referrals for medical care, legal assistance, and employment. The Haven also provides meals to the public several days a week. Each year The Haven serves 55,000 meals to over 1,700 different homeless persons each year; they also serve approximately 45 meals a day to the general public on weekends, holidays and other days when the soup kitchen at the Salvation Army is closed. The Haven provides comfort and counseling to 600 inmates of the Calhoun County Jail daily.

FireKeepers Casino Hotel, the Battle Creek Country Club, and the Symetra Tour will provide a variety of partnership options for regional companies or individuals to support the tournament. In addition to the sponsorship packages available there are two days of pro-am golf tournaments where sponsors can interact and play with professional golfers.

Volunteers are an essential part of the success of this tournament, with a need for 200 volunteers during match play, as well as host families to house approximately 75 players. The week leading up to the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship also encompasses several community outreach programs including Outside the Ropes and a Kids Clinic. Outside the Ropes sends professional golfers around Battle Creek to give back to the community. In 2016, professional golfers visited the Calhoun County Animal Shelter and several other local charitable organizations. The 2017 Kids Clinic will bring children from area schools to the Battle Creek Country Club for a day of fun, learning and enjoyment with the professional golfers and The First Tee of Battle Creek.  

The Battle Creek Country Club, designed by Willie Park Jr., opened in 1919 and is located at 318 Country Club Dr. in Battle Creek, Michigan.  This private members only course features 6,744 yards of golf and a beautiful club house overlooking Goguac Lake.
