FireKeepers 6th Annual Turkey Donation

(Battle Creek, MI.) November 16, 2015- FireKeepers Casino Hotel is pleased to announce that a donation of 1,000 turkeys will be made to five area food banks.

For the sixth consecutive year, FireKeepers Casino Hotel will donate to area food banks prior to the start of the holiday season.  Since opening, FireKeepers Casino Hotel has contributed to local area food banks, and many community organizations during the holiday season and throughout the year.  This also includes distributions to the FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board (FLRSB), distributions to the state of Michigan, as well as focusing business operations on local spending. 

“As we enter the holiday season, we take pride in having the opportunity to give back to surrounding communities,” stated Brian Decorah, CEO of FireKeepers Casino Hotel.  “The food banks we have partnered with do a tremendous job year-round and we are happy to give the extra assistance during the holiday season to help families in these communities.”

Five area locations have been selected for a donation of 200 turkeys each:

Food Bank of South Central Michigan located in Battle Creek, Mich.
Food Gatherers located in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank located in Comstock Park, Mich.
Community Harvest Food Bank located in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Food Bank of Eastern Michigan located in Flint, Mich.

FireKeepers Casino Hotel also partnered with S.A.F.E Place women’s shelter this holiday season and participated in the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event on October 24. FireKeepers contributed a monetary donation to this event and many team members participated in the walk. S.A.F.E. Place is committed to helping victims of domestic violence and their families in Barry, Eaton, and Calhoun Counties. S.A.F.E. Place provides shelter, court advocacy, referrals and comprehensive counseling programs for women and children who have been physically, verbally, or emotionally abused. This event raised $23,000 for the shelter.
